The main message that my father taught
was so simple that for many years we tried to make it more complicated
and we wanted more; and we have plenty of complication.
But it was... the essence was that if we as humans
do not contemplate and think about how we feel about ourselves,
and that notion of self-worth....
And that feeling of how we regard ourselves
is pivotal in terms of literally how our day unfolds, to the scope of our whole life;
but what I also feel is that, and this is something I would like to explore, is that
that feeling that we all have at a personal nondescribable way,
has incredible social ramifications;
and that is what the message was of Shambhala.
What my father was trying to express was that
it does matter what a society thinks about itself
and if a society can be based on the notion of human worthiness....
And I believe that much of our society is that somehow through our history
and no doubt through acts of incredible cruelty, we have all been spooked.
