Hello! Welcome to Cupcake Addiction's Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer Cupcake Tutorial where
I'll be teaching you how to make this very festive Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer cupcake.
Tools and equipment that we will be using today:
I have my Loyal number 3-40 Standard piping bag.
I have my Loyal number 20 nozzle or piping tip, one of my favorites, used that in quite
a few of our demonstrations. I've pre-filled 2 Loyal icing bags with some
of our perfectly pipeable vanilla buttercream frosting and also with some of our chocolate.
Now once again for your icing, you just want to make sure that's in a lovaly spoon-able
consistency as always. If you do have troubles with your buttercream icing, as I mentioned,
we have a tutorial with a recipe and also instructions on how to get your buttercream
to that lovely pipeable consistency. Ingredients today:
I have a couple of chocolate cupcakes. I have some pre-melted white chocolate, just
a little bit. I've melted about 5 or 6 white chocolate candy Melts.
I also have some chocolate chips. I have some more of the white chocolate Melts
which I'll be using to make the Reindeers' eyes.
I have some Jaffas or choc orange balls for his red nose.
And I have some star-shaped pretzels. So let's get started.
First thing today, I would like to make the reindeers' eyes because these are going to
take a little bit of time to dry. So I have here 4 because I'm making 2 so you need 2
eyes per reindeer. So I have 4 of the white chocolate Melts. And I'm going to take my
melted white chocolate and I'm just going to take a cocktail stick or a skewer as I've
got here. And I'm just going to pop a little dart of the white chocolate on the side of
each of those white chocolate Melts. I'm going to take a couple of my chocolate chips and
I'm just going to pop those on top of that lovely melted white chocolate.
Move those to the side. They'll take a couple of seconds to dry and they'll be ready to
use when we want them. Now, I'm going to take my 2 cupcakes. As I
mentioned before, I have pre-filled 2 piping bags with some chocolate and some vanilla
buttercream. With the buttercream, I always like to make sure that I squeeze it right
to the end of the piping bag so that's it nice and solid. There's no air bubbles in
there and it's just popping out at the end of that nozzle. Then I'm going to twist it.
And I'm going to do one of our smooth swirls which I teach you in a separate tutorial.
Essentially, I'm starting at the middle of the cupcake, swirling it around, making sure
to cover up to the edges. On both of those... Lovely!
Now as I've mentioned, I got some vanilla frosting in a separate piping bag. Once again,
bring that down so that it's just coming out to the end of the bag there. Now, you'll notice
here, you've got a little high point on top of the swirl, I supposed when you pull away
the icing bag. I'm going to use this spot to just put a blob of that white icing. Lovely!
Now this forms the foundation for Rudolf's nose so I'm going to take that Jaffa or choc
orange ball and just squish it into the nose there. And at the same time as I'm squishing
it in into that white nose area, I'm also pushing down this...the edge of the icing
where we pull that piping bag off. S I'm going to pop Rudolf's eyes in there. You
can have those facing any direction you like. I'm just taking these eyes that we prepared
earlier and I'm just sliding them in so that they're standing up just behind that nose.
You can see from behind there, they're standing up so they're a bit 3-dimensional. Do that
to both of those. And just slightly overlapping, one eye overlapping the other.
Finally, for Rudolf's antlers, I'm going to take these star-shaped pretzels. Now with
the pretzels, you want to snap off two of the star... I supposed two of the star spikes.
So his antlers, we're going to pop them in just like that. We're just sliding those into
the buttercream frosting and just into the very top of the cupcake to keep them secure.
So there you have your completed Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer cupcake. Perfect for this
