Vance Peterson: This is a great day for the university. This is an historic occasion.
And we're glad you're joining us wherever you may be, around the world on the web.
There are about 3000 or more alumni here already and more are coming this evening.
It is a fantastic site, a great party with great energy. Larry, what are your thoughts today?
Larry Twersky: It's fantastic seeing everybody reconnect. It's been amazing.
We're seeing alumni who haven't seen each other in so many years come together at the different booths.
We have about 40 micro-reunions happening here, and I'm glad you can join us virtually
to see the different people who you might be looking for on your alumni journey.
Music: Steel Drum Band plays instrumental, percussion based music
Gee Rabe: My name is Gee Rabe. I'm the director of the CSUN Steel Band.
We've been in existence since the spring of 1995.
If you're interested in steel drums, it's open to students, community people, alumni.
And we would love to have you in our band, so come join us!

Gray Mounger: Welcome back everyone. We have with us the world-famous Granny Girls! (cheering)
They are one of the great traditions of CSUN. There is a woman,
who's still alive in spirit with us named "Granny" Heitz.
Granny came to San Fernando Valley State in 1966. She was over 50 years old,
which was very uncommon at that time because we had traditional 18 to 22 year old students then.
There was a day they were asking students, "What can we do to incite better school spirit
here at San Fernando Valley State?" And there was a young man in the back of the hall who said,
"Well, let Granny do it!" And so Dotty Heitz at that point, her name became "Granny."
And the Granny Girls was the spirit organization that Granny started.
Music: Banjo music plays.
(singing) Ain't she sweet. Walkin' down the street. I aksed her very confidentially, Ain't she sweet.
(new song) California here I come. Right back where I started from.
More bower, a flower blooms in the sun. Each morning, at dawning birdies sing and everything.
The sun just may say, don't be late. That's why I can't hardly wait.
Open up that Golden Gate. California, here I come! (cheers)
(new song) And if I had Alladin's lamp for only a day, I'd make a wish and here's what I'd say.
Nothin' could be finer than to be in Carolina in the morning. -Everybody, join in now!
Aaaaa aaaah aaaaahh ahhhh...
Pres. Koester: What is your university? Cal State Northridge!
