Hello friends of analog entertainment!
Welcome to another episode of Hunter and Cron. Today with Concept.
By Alain Rivollet, Gaetan Beujannot.
Published by Repos Production, who have already made a splash with Rampage.
Also a novelty presented at the Spiel 2013 in Essen.
But I must confess in my game mania,
I unfortunately walked past it and it was Michael Schmitt from the Spielwiese in Berlin
who brought it to my attention that this is a beast of a game.
Concept is a guessing game where the one who explains the terms does not speak.
Not a single word. But he communicates with his players through symbols.
There is a board, the heart of the game with over 100 different pictograms, symbols.
It starts with simple things like male, female, family, work, leisure, animals, plants , etc. .
slow, fast , young, old, cold, hot, round, square, colors. Everything can you imagine .
And similiar to other guessings games, there are cards with terms to be guessed.
Each card consists of 9 terms.
Three simple ones at the top, then 3 intermediate, and 3 difficult terms.
The simple ones are something like this: stethoscope, carpet, Tarzan. Then it gets harder silicone, snowboard, bell.
And then really hard: The pitcher goes often to the well, but is broken at last.
I must of course first define the main category with this green question mark here .
For example if I must describe a man. I could put it up here. That would be a man.
Which is apparently an artist with his ear cut off.
Van Gogh.
Film. Computer. Eye. Red
2001 - A Space Odyssey.
A proverb. With an animal that lives in the water.
Mouth, talk , speak. The opposite, inverse of talking, speaking.
Think, think ... Mute as a fish!
Who isn't satisfied with the cards, simply invents his own terms. Family - Fire - Stone! (german for Flintstones)
At the beginning you might be a bit confused about what the individual things mean, but there's a very good summary,
where everything is written down and where it becomes clear that one can interpret specific pictograms in more than one way.
Arrow back and time is "quite far in the past". You have to understand these things first.
There is, as I said, the green question mark, to define the main category,
but I can use up to 4 colored exclamation marks to define subcategories
and then explain them further with colored markers.
A show, with many games, featuring two guys
one of them is really nice. And the other one is always thinking for an insanely long time.
Concept is a simple and great game. Because you can interpret everything!
It's a whole new kind of game, because the distribution of points is irrelevant, so is winning and losing.
In Concept nothing of that matters.
I really don't know what is more fun, the explaining or guessing.
You can play in any setup, in any group , with young, old, grandma, grandpa, children.
With people who really dislike any game. But they will like concept .
For me it's thumbs up! You have to check it out, it's just totally cool.
I actually haven't done anything else two weeks now and soon I need new cards.
I really don't know what I'm going to to say, because it's actually almost not a game,
it's kind of really cool activity.
From now on and for all eternity one can stop speaking
and speak only through the pictograms in Concept.
A brilliant conception! Really awesome.
Be sure to check it out. It 's just cool.
Yes, that's it for Concept. We'll see you next time. Bye!
