Hello and welcome to our demo of the IBM Payment app for iOS. This is a demo for mobile payment
at the point of sale (POS) system using the payment gateway provided by IBM Payment Systems.
Let’s open the IBM Payment app and go to the User tab and log in with our e-mail address
demo@test and the password. And here you see the user data – the name and the address.
As in the Mobile Blue Shop for iOS, we can now go to the wallet and see the payment methods
that the user has stored in the wallet.
And we can see his past orders. This is the order history of the user.
Now let’s assume the user goes shopping in a retail store. He proceeds to the cash
desk, and all his purchases are registered by the POS system. The POS system would then
generate a QR code which he can scan with his phone. In this demo, we are simulating
the POS system. We randomly generate an order and generate a QR code with the order information.
Now the user can scan the QR code with his phone.
The app will now take him to the confirmation screen with the payment details – address,
amount and order line item information. He can now press the Checkout button, and he
will be led to the Payment screen. He can now choose to either pay with a payment instrument
from his wallet or a new instrument.
Let’s pay with a new credit card. We enter the credit card number, and then we enter
the expiration date, March 2016, and last not least, we enter the security code. At
this point, the user can also select to save this card in his wallet for later transactions.
Now the payment is done, and we see the Confirmation screen with the order number and the order
status “Completed”. And again we get the information from the server saying: “Your
order has been handled successfully.”
At this point, the POS system agent – the clerk at the cash desk – would have to push
a button on his POS system to verify that the payment has really happened. Let’s see
how that works in our POS simulation.
In our simulation, the cashier would push the “Check Status” button, and the POS
system would go back to the server and request the payment status for the order. In this
case, the payment is completed and everything is fine. The user can step out of the store
with his purchases.
Back in our app, we can go to the User section into the Past Orders to see if this order
has been recorded correctly. And here it is!
We can also go back to the wallet of the user to verify that the new payment instrument
was added correctly. And here it is. The first one in the list is the new Visa card with
the scrambled number 0002 in the end.
Thank you for your interest in this demo on mobile payment at the POS system based on
the payment gateway provided by IBM Payment Systems.
