Medical use of robotics technology is one of the most exciting field. I will give you
three examples. One is called Surgery Robot. When you have a problem with your body or
your brain, medical doctors have to operate you and if goes more than thirty hours, doctors
get tired sometimes and so it would, it is natural for doctors to use robotics technologies
to assist him or her. Now it's already being deployed and there are a number of commercial
robotics surgical systems available. The program right now is, some of the medical doctors
don't trust these technologies. So none engineering issues still is a problem. Another exciting
field is called Cyborg. What this means is if you lose your arm or leg, you might use
robotics or artificial legs or arms. Now the problem with this technology is the communication
between human nerve system and robot control systems. If we can solve this, then lots of
people will benefit from artificial limbs and hands, etc. The third application area
is the application of so-called Nanotechnology. If we can develop the robot using Nanotechnology
and have the miniature robot, we could conceivably send this robot inside your body through blood
vessel and check any part of your body which is not function well or needs some fixing.
So robot application in medicine has unlimited future and you'll see more and more robotics
application in medicine in the future.
