Hey there, this is Jake Gudger, and in this video I am going to show you something right
now that's going to move the needle and get you unstuck and actually living and achieving
that big dream, that big vision you have imagined for yourself. All right, so one of my closest
mentors when it's come to any personal development, signs of success, goal-achieving type stuff,
he showed me this one-time, all right? It's basically three things. That's three of the
biggest things we all need when it comes to living a life that's fulfilling, awesome,
engaging, and we love, okay? So it's purpose vision and goals. Purpose. This is like your
big reason why. Okay, so this is like you maybe have some statement you've crafted whether
it's, whether it's feeding the hungry or serving humanity or just living a life of fun, joy,
excitement and love. This is something, you craft that. This is why you're here. Your
purpose is why you are on the planet. Your vision is how this will happen. Okay, so it's
like your, that dream, that purpose, realized. So this is the big kind of dream, the big
vision you have, and your goals are how this is going to happen.
So SMART, SMART goals. SMART. All right, so this model of goal setting is the best. It
is the gold standard, and the version I am going to share with you in this video is a
little different from what you may be accustomed to, or what you've heard before. So the first
one though is specific, specific. So what this means is you need to articulate your
goal. You need to write it down in a way where a total stranger is going to understand it
and know what you're talking about. So if you just are like, "I want to be happy, or
I want to be healthy." Well, that's awesome. That's nice, and it's definitely notable.
I don't know what you're talking about though. I don't know what you're actually working
to achieve, so if it's like eat healthy, do something like a certain weight you are to
achieve, a certain body fat percentage. You're going to run a marathon. If it's something
like increasing your sales, pick a number, pick a level you're going to hit. That gets
us right into the second piece which is measurable, okay? So we need to have measurable. That's
close. That's pretty up there, pretty good. So you need to have a number attached to the
outcome you want to achieve. So if it's weight loss, what's that weight, what's that body
fat percentage. If you're doing sales, what's the income level you're going to hit by the
end of the 30 days or the 90 days, or whatever your goal is. Have it be a number so this
way again when it comes to somebody holding you accountable towards your goals, you have
a metric. You have a number that you can tell by the end of the period of time which was
T. You know if you've achieved it or not. That gets us right into the third piece which
is actionable, okay? You want to have it be something that isn't just something you're
doing in your head. You want to have your goal be something that's outward focused,
that's you generating new, healthier, better, happier habits in your life, something you
can actually do and take action on. The fourth one is realistic, and me personal,
realistic. Me personally, I don't like the word realistic because to me it just suggests
that it's something that is just kind of boring and not totally inspiring or like worth it.
I realistically don't mean boring. I realistically mean it's something you can actually reasonably-ish
achieve throughout the time period. All right, so the last part is time constraint. So you
have a deadline. All right? I recommend for constraint, I recommend 30, 60, 90 days, and
then beyond that, this is more getting into your vision. You're going to have year-long
goals, two-year goals, five-year goals, ten-year goals, 20-year goals, and then again, that's
more like the big vision. That's more in your big dream. Well, these SMART goals are better
for 30,60, 90 day periods, so all of this, each piece of this comes back to boom! Accountability.
When you do this, when you create SMART goals, you don't just have a nice idea. You don't
just have something that is like, "I am thinking about maybe/possibly achieving this outcome."
No, no, no. Give something specific, measurable, with a timeframe for it, something you can
really do, and something you can do right now. You can then take that and share it and
show it to a mentor, a coach, spouse, friend, somebody who's going to help you with the
accountability piece. Okay? The other piece of this is out of all of these
things, SMART, out of all these things, the hands-down most important one is actionable.
Okay? I first heard this next part from Tony Robbins. He says that as soon as you've set
a goal, as soon as you declare something you want to create, take action on it right now.
So now that you know this, now that you see how this works, here's what I want you to
do. Head over to JacobGudger.com/goals, and there will be a free worksheet that will walk
you through everything I had just showed you, everything about how to set these goals, and
then how to create an action plan to actually make it happen. Okay? So this is the piece
that's going to help you actually get unstuck and move that needle or you're not just watching
the cool video about SMART goals and going, "That's nice." You're actually making something
happen that's going to move you towards achieving your vision. Remember purpose, vision, goals;
SMART goals. So go ahead and
head over to JacobGudger.com/goals and get that worksheet and take action on this immediately.
