Hallo und Willkommen! I'm MeisterLehnsherr und ihr seht „Get Germanized - Top 10 German
Children's Books". I chose 10 books that German kids love and
that I think you would enjoy as well! Here we go, let's start -- Lasst uns anfangen!
The first book is: 1. The German version of Harry Potter -- The
Sorcerer's Stone (Der Stein der Weisen in German)
This book is amazing. If you don't like Harry Potter you didn't grow up with it or you're
a terrible person. 2. Pippi Langstrumpf -- The story about the
strongest girl in the world, Pippilotta Viktualia Rollgardina Pfefferminz Efraimstochter Langstrumpf
aka Pippi Langstrumpf (Pippi Longstockings). A girl that lives in a mansion with a horse,
a monkey and a suitcase full of gold? What are you waiting for? Go read it!
3. Die Unendliche Geschichte (The Neverending Story) -- One of my personal childhood favorites!
If you don't know it, go buy it! The story about Bastian, a young boy who steals a mysterious
looking book from a bookshop, starts reading it and gets sucked into its world. Wunderbar!
4. Die Kleine Hexe -- The Little Witch --The adventures of a...well, a little witch! The
perfect book for those who want to learn to read because it's simple yet beautifully written.
5. Ronja Räubertochter (Ronja Burglar Daughter) -- The story about Ronja, daughter of Burglar
Commander Mattis, who grows up in a forest full of burglars, grey gnomes and other creatures.
One of the most popular children's books in Germany!
6. Das Kleine Gespenst (The Little Ghost) -- A little ghost goes to school! Another
perfect book for those who want to teach their kids to read!
7. Momo -- The story about a little girl that lives at the outskirts of a big city in the
ruins of an amphitheater. She's got a special gift. She always got time and is the best
listener in the world! One day the Graue Herren "Grey Sirs" come along and want to steal the
lifetime of people and Momo is the only one who can stop them! Ingenious book! Go read
it! 8. Die Kinder aus Bullerbü (The kids from
Bullerbü) -- The story about the kids from Bullerbü - A village with only three farms.
Lisa, Bosse, Lasse, Inga, Britta, Ole and the little Kerstin play all day long! They
build huts, go treasure hunting or sleep in the barn. In Summer they go fishing, catch
crabs and during Winter they go ice-skating! A beautiful book about innocent kids and their
childhood. 9. Das Doppelte Lottchen -- The story of two
girls that meet each other for the first time in summer camp and see that they look absolutely
identical! Wondering how this can be possible they decide to switch places and go home to
the other girl's home instead! An amazing book that you shouldn't miss!
10. Michel aus Lönneberga (Michael from Lönneberga) -- The story about up-to-no-good Michel. A
hilarious book that will keep you guessing what Michel will do next to shock the people
around him. Pulling up his little sister on a flag pole? Kiss his teacher? Read it and
find out for yourself!
