OKay, so I'm going to show you how you can use this high hat to guide you to learn some
other beats just so when you at without reading music. You've finally put the music away for
a little while and do a little experimenting on your own, or and you'll come up with all
kinds of cool stuff. Basically, once you learn how to put all the notes with the high hat
and Bass drum, you can really just start to leave notes out. So, I'm going to show you
with the clicker on just again. At first, you might not want to do this, but once you
get the hang of it, go ahead and do it, and go ahead and develop that sense of time that
you need. So, here we go. One and two and three and four and. One and two and three
and four and. One and two and three and four and. One and two and three and four and. (Demo)
OKay. That's just a few possibilities that you can do. Basically, what's staying constant
the whole time is the high hat and snare drum. And what this is called, when this is on two
and four, it's referred to as Back Beat in a lot of popular music. It's been going on
for a long time, ever since, I think I guess Rock and Roll started the whole thing. But,
regardless, we're keeping that constant and we're exploring the possibilities with our
Bass drum first. And then, once we do that with a couple of different techniques, then
we can also mix the Back Beat up. But, that two and four is referred to as Back Beat.
Just keeping that constant, and let everything else, kind of, follow that and let that take
charge really. OKay? So, that's how you start exploring possibilities with the Bass drum.
