TROPICAL DANGERS
The jungle, in my opinion,
is one of the most dangerous environments known to man.
The heat, rain, moisture, and insects,
it's one of the harshest environments you can work in.
I know what we're headed for.
That's not why I'm here, you know, for a comfortable safari.
It's hot, humid, lots of animals try to eat us all the time.
It's going to be terrible.
The biggest thing is for me to learn all these techniques.
We had a safety briefing today.
I learned about wound compression and applying tourniquets.
Always above the wound. But if the wound was here...
Where we're going, there's no helicopters available.
Even if there were, the canopy is so dense,
how will we get a helicopter in?
If we were to pee now, there would be small fish that can swim up inside
and get wedged in your urethra which is not pleasant.
So don't pee when you're underwater.
It's pretty much guaranteed
that one or all of us will pick up leeches on this trip.
They're going to jump on you, feed,
inflate themselves with blood and drop off.
I just pulled a leech off my leg. I yelled and yanked him off.
It was on my inner thigh inside my pants.
The problem with removing them,
if you do it incorrectly, you end up leaving their mouth parts in the wound.
An open wound in the jungle, as we've already discussed,
is a great source of infection.
Yeah, my pet leech.
That's what you do, I guess.
Anybody snores too loud, they're getting one in the nostril to plug them up.
Look at this thing, isn't that amazing?
It's the most beautiful moth I've ever seen.
Just dawn, just now. That's what you hear all night
or all through the morning.
It sounds like a fan belt is knackered.
In the Malaysian jungle, we've got all sorts of flora and fauna
that simply isn't very friendly.
We'll find a live one later.
I've seen bee stings turn into anaphylaxis
and people come to life-threatening conditions very quickly.
This is the scene where the stupid actor grabs the snake.
There's an elephant track here. Big footprints down there.
I'm surprised how exhausting it is,
to sleep in that kind of heat and humidity for days.
It makes you very lethargic.
It's difficult to concentrate, that's the other thing.
You have to really focus when you're doing something.
But the excitement keeps you energised.
