10 people in the North Island
are being treated for measles following an outbreak
that has been linked to a dance competition in Sydney last month.
Auckland has one confirmed case
with another nine people in Turangi and Taupo.
Three people attended
the World Supremacy Battleground Hip Hop Champs in Sydney
in early December.
The Ministry of Health has put an action plan in place
to contact family and friends of the confirmed cases
and recommends immunisation is the way to go.
Symptoms include fever, running nose, watery eyes
and white spots on the inside of the mouth.
