To your places!
Look at the camera now, Marcos.
We get many scripts.
There’s a lot of people wanting to show us their projects,
but rarely we get something with interest or,
at least, well written.
The quality of Tiago’s writing come out immediately from the script.
Then, I asked him to send His movies, I think…
Yes, after I sent some stuff that I’ve done at school.
And he sent the films. They seemed interesting. He has got sense of humour.
The glove is absolutely essential for El Justiciero’s clubbing.
Ei, Dad, and El Justicieiro beats only with a hand?
He beats with both hands. And with his elbows, sometimes.
Where did you get the idea for El Justiciero?
You wrote the script and directed the film. Where did you get the idea?
I got it from…
I was writing a Christmas’ Carol about a kid who had found out that
Santa Claus didn’t exist and he wanted to write a letter to another person.
He´s looking for someone.
I didn´t know to whom he’d write…
Meanwhile I was listening to a song by Mutantes, El Justiciero…
and that was it…
I’m going [to Cernache] to buy cigarettes.
If I’m not back in 10 minutes, call the popular militia!
Have you thought of the actor JP immediately?
Humm… no.
I had already thought of JP as a good chance for an actor.
When I started the casting I remembered and call him...
then after the casting I was pretty sure that he was a good choice for the role.
He is misplaced in his family. He likes his son and his wife… like he should.
At the time the film is happening, the subtext is that things had failed long time ago.
So, we can say that this very short film is part of a very long story
of many disasters and misbehaviours, from the father’s side,
in everything that you can hope for in a father, right? In a nuclear, simple family.
How did you find out the ZED productions?
Through António Ferreira, as a director.
I hasn’t met him personally, but I’had seen some of his films,
like “Breathing Under Water” and “Forget….(‘’’).
I liked , I do like them very much and…
Basically, Tiago sent me an email, quite flattering,
like "man, I enjoy your films" and stuff like that,
and I thought… hum, this guy has talent!
People! Coffee and then back to work...
