Today I will take you on a trip to Czantoria.
I am in the mountains called Karpaty, in the Beskid Śląski mountain range.
What is squeaking in the grass?
Welcome to my first VLOG.
I'm just going by train.
I'm on my way to Ustroń.
It is from there that I will begin the journey to the top of Czantoria.
I will join the school trip
organized by III High School in Pszczyna,
which I used to go to.
This tour takes place as part of celebrating the twenty years of high school.
We got good weather.
It is neither too cold nor too warm.
However, this fog is worrying me a bit.
I do not know if you can see me, I hope so.
Hi everyone!
Today I will take you on a trip to Czantoria.
I am in the mountains called Karpaty,
in the Beskid Śląski mountain range.
We have just started our journey up.
Behind me is my team - and a few people in front of me.
We are going to conquer today two tops: the Great Czantoria and Little Czantoria.
We are heading to the top along the blue trail from the direction of Ustroń.
I hope that by the time we reach the top, the fog will disappear.
If this does not happen, unfortunately, the visibility at the top will be very low.
Oh, crap, I'm already exhausted xD
But I will tell you where the name "Czantoria" came from.
There are two theories.
First theory: the name "Czantoria" came from the name of the giant "Czartor",
who supposedly used this mountain to stop the Vistula river run.
In turn the second theory - more scientific - says that the name "Czantoria"
it came from the word "czartoryje",
that is, furrowed by the "czarty".
"Czart" is a devil.
It seems to me that this second name fits this mountain more,
because the path is really broken up.
In fact, Czantoria has two tops:
Mała Czantoria, amounting to 866 m above sea level
and Wielka Czantoria, 995 m above sea level
If you like winter sports, then you can go to Czantoria.
There are six ski slopes here.
Four blue and two red.
From other curiosities - the watershed of Poland runs through Czantoria.
This means that the mountain is the boundary between the Wisła and Odra basins.
Wisła and Odra are the two largest rivers in Poland.
Time for a legend about Czantoria.
Apparently at the top, next to the hostel there is a cliff called Skalka
and there is a cave somewhere on this cliff.
Legend has it that the knights are sleeping in the cave.
It is not known exactly whether the knights of Bolesław Chrobry or Jan III Sobieski.
Depending on which version of the legend we pay attention to.
And what about these knights.
Legend has it that when Silesia, which is the province in which we are now,
will be attacked by someone, these knights are to wake up from sleep and protect the people of Silesia.
And how did people learn about these knights that they were sleeping in this cave?
Well, on a Christmas Eve night a blacksmith's assistant met these knights.
The knights asked him to take care of their horses
and at that moment the knights told him who they were, why they were and what they were doing.
As a reward for helping these knights, the blacksmith's assistant received horse dung.
Someone would think, what a prize - horse dung?
But later it turned out that the dung turned into gold.
Well, that's it when it comes to the legend of Czantoria.
Our route runs through the "Czantoria" nature reserve.
We are just standing in front of its entrance.
This reserve was created to protect the surrounding forest.
There are two nature reserves in Czantoria.
One on the Czech side and the other on the Polish side.
Today's trip is one of many trips organized as part of the celebrations of the twenty years of high school.
The ultimate goal is to get twenty tops.
It's time for a bit of history.
During the Second World War, here at Czantoria, a branch of the Armia Krajowa "Czantoria" had a hideout.
If you do not know what the Armia Krajowa is, I am explaining.
It was simply the army of the Polish Underground State during the Second World War.
And on November 30, 1943, there were 10 partisans in the hideout on Czantoria.
They were surprised by the Germans and attacked.
Unfortunately, only four people managed to escape, the rest were murdered.
We are located on the Polish-Czech border.
It seems that my requests have been heard.
At the time of our climb to the top, the weather improved significantly and the Sun came out from behind the clouds.
Time for a well-deserved rest and sticking badges.
As you can see, I don't have much badges.
Others have already won many badges and stamps.
This is not the first top they have conquered,
however, the first one under the program "We are gaining tops for the Hospice".
Our today's effort and kilometers will be converted into points.
At the end of the event, the sponsors will give money to the Hospice.
The amount will depend on the number of points earned.
At the top there is an observation tower.
The long awaited moment has come to enter it and admire the views.
Just a photo together and we say goodbye to the Great Czantoria.
However, this is not the end of our trip.
On the way back we want to get the second top - Little Czantoria.
To get there, we will take the black route.
Oh, these are probably the horses from the legend =D
On the way to Mała Czantoria, we pass one of the ski lifts.
There are a total of five ski lifts in Czantoria.
Hmm, I think we have exhausted our dose of happiness for today.
The weather is worse, it starts to thunder and rain.
We need to hurry up.
Second top won!
We are all very pleased.
For a moment, we were afraid that we would get quite wet, but the weather only scared us a bit.
When going to the mountains you have to remember about it,
that the weather changes very quickly and you have to prepare for it.
Students put stones with the inscription "III LO". Great idea!
"three-fo-ur-and!"
"That would be good in slowmo!"
Good in slow motion?
Okey, let's check it out;)
Finally, a commemorative photo and we're going back!
And this is the end of our trip.
We return back along the yellow trail to the train station.
Thank you for being with us.
If you liked it, remember about the thumb up and subscription!
See you in the next VLOG.
