>> Rep Freiberg thank you for joining us here today.
>> Thank you. >> what do you do for professional career,
and what you do with your life outside the capital?
>> Men attorney for nonprofit that works on public health policy I worked there over seven
years it's based on of William Mitchell law school and it's also the loss one went to
in St. Paul so it's been a fun job and I feel a prepared me fairly well for working here
as a state rep. As far as my life outside of here, I have two kids ages 1 and 4, a daughter
named Rose the four year-old and a son named Joseph one-year-old he was born 10 days before
the election so I got to deal with new baby issues while also working on the new job here.
Since I'm in my first term. I play the piano, I joke following the Twins and Vikings.
>> can you describe the District you represent and tell us what your constituents care about?
>> district includes all or parts of the city of Crystal, a Golden Valley, New Hope and
Robbinsdale. I think there's a lot of younger families a lot of families who have lived
in the area along time I think the concerns of the people in my area are similar to a
lot of people around the state a one a good education system for their kids, they want
a reasonable transportation network so it doesn't take them an hour or two to get to
their jobs, they want peace and health care, they want good infrastructure.
>> what do you see as the biggest challenge the state will face in the next 10 years at?
>> last year I might have said education, I feel we have been a lot of investments in
education but I feel in the next 10 years I think transportation will be one of the
bigger issues. I think expanding the light rail network around the metropolitan area
is very important my district in particular it would benefit from the bacchanal light
rail transit corridor and that is something I have supported and will continue to support
as a state rep. >> what area or areas of legislation you feel
you are best equipped to work on? >> might a job is in the public health field
so I feel a health care is one area that I'm equipped to work on. Mike committee assignments
have landed me in the areas of the Environment and the functioning of the government. I'm
on four committees and they both focus on those areas and I'm learning a lot about the
environment and particularly is a new area for me having been on the city council in
Golden Valley for nine years before taking this job I feel the government area is an
area I can work and I was named vice chair of the Government Operations Committee so
that is an area I feel I have some expertise and can put to use on those committees.
>> if given the chance, who would like to be for a day or who would like to change roles
with? >> would say the conductor of the Minnesota
Orchestra where that ends up being hopefully the conductor will come back in his bed on
my mind I was very happy to hear there was a settlement in the orchestra dispute. I play
the piano soul music is one thing I really love its one of my original passions. . .
