I was going through erm a separation with my wife and then she wanted a divorce.
Though I was concerned how it's all going to work, separation, money and things like that. So I was watching tv one day and I saw this advert, Options came up and I thought that’s that's that's good, I can I can ring them and find out exactly what I should be doing and how I go about it.
Options filled a big hole erm not knowing anything about divorce or maintenance at all. It filled me in on the information I needed to know, I was quite impressed by the website. I mean you could get all the information if you were willing to research on the internet, but it's in one place, you don't have to go to all different sites and you can get all the information you need erm and if it's not there they will point you in the right direction.
I downloaded all these forms and took them to my now ex wife, we sat down and we spoke about it and it and it come to it we could do it that way. We come to an agreement regarding money erm we didn't need a third party at all. I pay a certain amount of money per month to my ex wife, it comes out of my bank account direct debit straight into hers so there's no "I'll bring the cash round tomorrow, or the cash er the cheque will clear next week", it's directly into her account, that is what she wanted. The main thing is that the children don't suffer in anyway and of course she is happy and I am happy. I was totally confused before I rang them and contacted their website and by the end of the evening I had a good idea what I should be doing and that's important, it gives you a benchmark to work from. It gave me a lot more control cos I knew what was going on I knew I knew how much I was paying what I should be doing for the children, and taking responsibility as long as both parents take a responsibility even though you are separated, because you are separated doesn't mean you don't stop having a responsibility. My goal now is to make sure my children's happiness stays the same and they grow up in a good way.
