Storyteller: Once upon a time there lived an Emperor in China.
He liked the most beautiful things.
And when he heared there was a bird in his empire which sang so beautifully that people came from far to hear his songs...
...he ordered to find this bird for him.
The nightingale was very honored...
...and appeard that evening at the window of the Emperor.
"Is this all?"
...yelled the Emperor when he saw the tiny, dull bird.
But the song of the nightingale hit the Emperor right in his hart.
Tears of emotion ran down his cheeks.
"This is the very, very most beautiful thing i ever heard."
...stammered the Emperor.
...stammered the Emperor.
And every evening thereafter, the nightingale appeard at the Emperor's window and sang his highest song for him.
But one day, a large package was delivered...
...which had a mechanical nightingale inside, studded with valuable diamonds and gems.
When you wound it up it moved, and sang the highest song.
"this one looked much nicer than the real one, and sang just as beautiful."
...thought the Emperor.
He told the nightingale he didn't have to come back anymore, because he had a much nicer one now.
for one year long, the Emperor listened to his mechanical nightingale.
Until something strange happened.
Suddenly there came a horrible noise from the artificial bird, which then fell silent.
And whatever the Emperor ordered to try, it didn't work.
The Emperor was inconsolable.
He became sick of grief.
That's why in whole China, everybody was very sad.
Because all the people loved their Emperor very much.
Emperor: "Nooo... no..."
"Nooo... go away...!"
Vision: "He's nearing his end."
Emperor: "Nooo... go away..."
Death: "You are mine..."
"Now i possess the symbols of your power."
"Your crown."
"Your sword."
"And the imperial banner."
"I will take your most valuable possession."
"Your... life..."
"Hear... how life flows out of you."
"In my empire YOU will serve ME."
Emperor: "Nooo..."
Death:
Death: "Wealth will not help you now."
"Only the warmth of unconditional love and loyalty can save you now..."
"...from the coldness of death!"
Servant: "The Empelor lives."
Emperor: "Gooooodmorning."
