There are some major differences between multi-grain products and whole grain products. Now whole
grain products are made with whole grains; they haven't been refined, the bran, the endosperm,
all the health ingredients, all the edible products are still intact; that means you're
getting more of the beneficial fats, you're getting more protein, more fiber, more vitamins
and minerals with whole grains. Multi-grain products just means there is a combination
of different grains in one product. An example of multi-grain versus whole grain products
is a multi-grain bread that may have three or four different kinds of grains, flours
contained in the bread. An example of a whole grain product is like the brand Food for Life
or Ezekiel bread which actually uses the whole grains from several different kinds of grains
including millet and brown rice and quinoa, and those are combined together to make a
bread without refining them into flour first. So a multi- grain bread may have been made
with seven different kinds of grains but they have all been refined so it could be white
flour or white rice and refined barley whereas whole grain products has the brown rice, the
entire grains, all of the edible products of all of the grains are still intact so you
really wanna focus on whole grains products as opposed to multi-grain products.
