Hi. Welcome to today's weekly update of "The Amazing Adventures of Chloe Pikselle". I think
this one is going to be a quick one, because I don't really have a lot to show, in terms
of the level not much has changed. I've spent the past week creating designs for Chloe's
enemies and trying to implement them. One of them I've finished implementing yesterday,
the other one is still work under way. You can tell that this wing-flapping thing
is "work under way" because it doesn't do much. I still need to code the behaviour for
it to swoop down and try to catch Chloe. The other one is further along, I'll show
it to you in a few seconds, let me just sort out the usual console stuff.
I've also noticed that even though I'm trying not to focus on Chloe dying - it still looks
rubbish when she dies and everything just restarts. So I'd love to add a death animation
to Chloe, one that won't look too brutal or violent, but would still show the player that
something has happened and she needs to re-spawn. Shouldn't be too hard and probably after I
finish working with that flying enemy - that's the thing I'm going to work on.
So you can see this caterpillar thingy. It just drives around from edge to edge, when
it reaches an edge it changes its direction. Any sort of collision with it is going to
cause Chloe to die - there's spikes on top, there's pretty dangerous... well, not really
"dangerous" - "caterpillary" (what?) looking things that will cause Chloe to die as well.
It also has some other functionality, further on in the game in a different level this caterpillar
mechanoid will be able to retract the spikes on top, and Chloe will be able to land on
top and ride it for a while, in a case when it's driving on a surface that Chloe can't
normally walk on. So *BOOM* and we die, and we respawn, and that's the update for this
week. Thanks for watching, see you next week.
