Hi! I am Markita Aldridge-Woods your Veteran Loan lender right here in the Washington D.C.
Metro Area. That's Virginia, Maryland and D.C.
And I get this question a lot. "Can I buy a home with a person who is not
a veteran or active duty military?" Only if you are married your spouse is allowed
to be a non-veteran. So a brother and sister who ia one with the
Veteran one is not, could not in a Veteran Home Loan together unless the co-borrower
also has Veteran eligibility to use the loan. For example Sergeant Smith and his fiancee
would like to purchase a home together prior to the wedding.
Well, only Sergeant Smith can go on the loan if using the VA Home Loan Program as his fiancee
is not a Veteran or an active duty military. So Sergeant Smith better make it down the
aisle if he wants his fiancee, soon-to-be wife, to be on the Home Loan.
I am Markita Aldridge-Woods, Senior Loan Officer at Weststar Mortgage.
My goal is to help you make and form decisions when purchasing a home using VA Loan.
