What is Centrelink?
Centrelink is the government agency that provides a range of mostly cash payment and some services
on behalf of the federal government. So they're a bit separate from government but they're
bound by the way government wants them to deliver services, and they're bound to deliver
the payments in the way that the law provides. All social security payments are governed
by legislation. So the law actually says when you can be paid and how much.
So Centrelink needs to take all of those things into account when they're making payments
to people.
