Hey this is Dan Safkow with another Marketing Minute. (http://videomarketingminute.com) It's been a very big week for video chat news. So we are going to talk about that, personal robots, and jetpacks.

As a kid growing up, I loved watching futuristic movies and documentaries. So at that time I would have been convinced that by 2011, I would have video phones, personal robot, and a jetpack.
And it looks like all I have is a video phone and it's called my computer. Both Facebook and Google+ made announcements this week regarding their video chat services. So it's going to become very mainstream very quickly.
So my question to you guys, is as entrepreneurs, are you ready to be the engine or are you going to lay back and be the caboose when it comes to this trend? Because I don't think it's a matter of if, I think it's only a matter of when.
Because whenever you look at new technologies, when they are introduced, you have to look at the early adopters. And then you have the laggers who need to get over their discomfort first before they embrace the technology
So just imagine a couple of years ago when you first saw Facebook. If you were like me, you said that feels kind of weird putting myself out there.. so obviously I got over my discomfort and now I am broadcasting these videos to 20,000 people via our
Be Productive channel. And if you think back to maybe your great-grandparents when air travel because available to the masses. A lot of them probably said... 'mmm I'm ok, I don't need to get there in 2 hours, I'm ok traveling by my car the whole day to get
there' and maybe even their great grandparents said that about their horses. Maybe they said 'I'm very comfortable with my horse and I really don't need that gas-powered contraption that makes all the noise.'
So then you fast-forward and it seems kinda silly that at one time people were resisting that technology once it becomes commonplace.
So my plea to you, is compress that cycle! Get over it now, get over yourself now. Put yourself out there by leveraging video technology. Cut down that cycle. You'll connect with prospects faster, better and easier. And you could become a
leader in your niche using this medium.
