Yesterday evening, I read a news article about this thing, the Coca-Cola Freestyle. It’s
a new kind of soda fountain that, the article promised, could deliver over 100 different
types of soda and flavors. When I saw that it could give me an orange Coca-Cola, I knew
I had to try it ASAP. This Web site allows users to search for these machines by ZIP
Code.
As it turns out, the nearest one to us is at this place, The Burger Joint in Dupont
Circle, a trendy neighborhood in the heart of D.C. So after work today, Susan, Fiona,
and I met here to give the Coca-Cola Freestyle a spin. (Here are Susan and Fiona in front
of The Burger Joint.)
And there it is, the Coca-Cola Freestyle, in all its LED and LCD touch-screen glory.
Here are step-by-step instructions on how to use it.
One, behold the marvel of 21st-century technology and ingenuity this machine is.
Two, carefully position your disposable Coca-Cola brand drinking instrument in the dispensing
zone.
Three, select the type of soda you want. In this case, as in most cases, I choose Coke.
Four, select the flavor you want. In this case, I choose orange.
Five, push the button that reads "push".
And six, enjoy.
It doesn’t get any easier than that, folks.
Now, let’s see if Susan can figure out how to use it.
Okay, not too bad. Good work, Susan.
And there you have it: the Coca-Cola Freestyle. Welcome to the 21st century, my friends. Now
stay out of my way while I drink my orange Coke.
