Hi this is John Pare and I'm here with Scott LaBarre, president of the NFB of Colorado
and also our PAC chairman. Scott, tell me what exactly is the PAC plan. The PAC plan
is the pre-authorized contribution plan committee and it is not a political pack it has nothing
to do with politics. As a 501c3 we can't do this. What it is, is a way to give money every
month to the National Federation of the Blind by scheduling automatic contributions from
your bank account, your credit or debit card or any other kind of savings account that
allows a withdraw. Wow that sounds very convenient. So this is a very convenient way for NFB members
and others to contribute to the NFB is that correct? Absolutely! Once we sign you up the
plan just takes your money out of your account. The account you designate every single month
and individuals can give as little as five dollars a month on the PAC plan or a whole
lot more. And it is a tremendous fundraising program for the National Federation of the
Blind. Right now we bring in over four-hundred thirty thousand dollars a year on the PAC
plan. This helps our scholarship program, our public education campaigns, the Braille
learning and literacy programs. All of these are funded through the generous contributions
that we receive on our PAC plan. That's terrific. Well I'm a member of the PAC plan and I hope
if you're listening that you consider joining too. Scott how would someone go about becoming
a new member of the PAC plan. There are several ways. On our website you can search for the
PAC plan form. Get that form filled out and turned into our National Center here in Baltimore.
Or just call us at 410-659-9314 and ask to be connected to accounting and they can help
you get on the PAC plan too. Great. Scott thanks very much. Thank you.
