Use the 'Cited By' feature in Google Scholar to find citation counts for articles.
This shows you how one article has been used by other scholars.
Enter your search terms. For example, "animals and extinction."
Select search.
Under the search results of your choice select the 'Cited by' link.
This will connect you with newer research that makes references to this article.
The article "Interbreeding and Extinction" has been cited 343 time according to Google Scholar.
Now we see a bibliography listing all the articles cited in the first article.
In the bibliography of these articles articles there should be a reference to the first article.
You can also search within the articles citing our first article.
Search for a specific term, such as "global warming."
And now we find all the articles within "Interbreeding and Extinction" that contain information on global warming.
