Hi I'm Kristy Tomlinson and by using my skills as a speech pathologist, I hope to improve
the lives of people the world over to make tomorrow better.
Through my job I constantly work with and help children with communication disorders
often caused by disabilities and also provide support to their families.
Before graduating from Curtin in 2007 I was fortunate enough to go on work experience
at an Indian orphanage as part of the Go Global program. This not only gave me valuable experience
but confirmed my passion for helping others and improving health standards overseas by
promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in their communities. I returned to the same
orphanage in India earlier this year in a professional capacity with Australian charity
Equal Health and will be returning again to continue my work there in February next year.
Hopefully with my Curtin degree I will be able to encourage future speech pathologists
to explore this area and be able to continue my involvement in international aid to make
tomorrow better.
