Hey, I'm Nick from The Fevered. I play guitar and I'm here for Stacia's assignment.
I think they're not essential anymore which is great. There are some small labels that
really do help out and they do very good things. And there's always guys with discros running
around and they'll cut you like 'a record deal', put the record out and take fifty percent
or something. The DIY thing right now is huge. The guy from Nine Inch Nails is a huge advocate
of that and he seems to be doing pretty well.
Mainly Bandcamp and Soundcloud, definitely give you a better platform to post it to your
fans on the Internet and get a massive, free, way to show everyone your music and that's
great for everyone, there's no one who loses out on that.
I feel that we're so past the end stages of this rampant disease that there's no point
trying to stem it. That's part of the reason that we put it up for free. You can't make
money in the music industry at the moment, I don't think that's really a thing that you
should try aim for if you want to actually make music. If you go tour hard and
sell some merch then, you know that's where the money comes from. People these days they
really like to have a physical copy as well as their digital copy, so I find that people
who actually like your band will buy things.
I think it's awesome, I think if someone wants to film our stuff or like, make a remix of
any kind that's cool, that's really cool. We live in a remix culture. Yeah no, totally
encourage, a hundred percent do it.
Completely integral these days for promoting the gigs. For getting, you know, music out
there. Facebook, you wouldn't be able to promote shows without it. It's a great hub for your
band, people can just click like and get the best news possible. What we really need right
now is for people to actually listen to the music and spread it around. So that's the most
important part.
