The specific conditions that chiropractic treat are vary varied. Sometimes when I talk
to people in lectures, I like to just start at the top of my head and go down and talk
about the conditions. Things like headaches; TMJ pain; neck pain; radicular pain that goes
into the arm; shoulder pain; elbow pain, including tennis elbow; and wrist and hand problems,
particularly, carpel tunnel, but vary many repetitive stress syndromes show up in the
arms.
We also treat thoracic pain, or upper back pain, pain around the ribs. We also treat
low back pain, which would include conditions like arthritis, stenosis, sciatica, (?) sprain
strains, hip problems, knee problems, ankle and feet problems. It's important to remember
that chiropractors are interested in how the entire body works together. We often look
at the, we call it the kinematic chain, where the ankle's connected to the knee connected
to the hip connected to the spine. We're going to look at all those areas to see how they're
interacting and make sure they're all functioning well after your adjustment.
Many people also receive chiropractic care for motor vehicle injuries and other kinds
of accidents, including sports injuries. It's also interesting that many people come to
chiropractors for muscular skeletal pain, and they'll report improvement in other symptoms
that aren't related to the muscular skeletal system, including decreased headaches, decreased
sinus congestion, improvement in breathing and gastrointestinal function. This is because
chiropractic restores muscular, skeletal, and neurological integrity, so it really allows
your nervous system to help your body heal and become more highly organized.
