CHANEL BROADUS: Hi, my name is Chanel Broadus.
And I am alumni of Drexel University's Higher Education
Masters Program.
My disability is carpal tunnel, which is a condition
that is becoming more and more common, especially in the age
of technology as people use computers and rely on
software, and technology, and things of
that nature more often.
However, it's also a condition that many people fail to take
the bull by the horns and seek help, and treat it as
something that they can use to get further assistance when it
comes to school.
Oftentimes, teachers nowadays require
students to write papers.
They expect them to be typed.
Students have to type them.
But they struggle with getting it done because of the fact
that they have carpal tunnel.
However, carpal tunnel actually is a disability
because it is a condition that does not go
away except by surgery.
And even then, there is still after effects.
So it's definitely something I would strongly encourage
students to look into.
I think any time you have a disability or you have a
condition that is in any way, shape, or form hindering you
or becoming difficult to work with in terms of being able to
complete your school work, it's important to
talk to your doctor.
And talk to the Office of Disability Services.
And see what kind of assistance you can get.
