At this years Open House weekend 4,000 people are coming to see the latest in the Olympic
Park.
I think there's going to be some massive changes. The thing I'm really looking forward to seeing
is the Stadium itself and how it's taking shape.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Olympic Park and all of the things they built.
This is an opportunity for us to get people not only from the four boroughs, who are always
aware of what's going on because it is on their doorstep, but people from across London
and across the country to have the opportunity to come and see what we're doing.
The 100 metres tracks ends just outside that entrance. So if you look just through there,
that's the end of the 100 metres track.
But also if you think back to people that in my time, we were all inspired by the Olympics.
It wasn't for watching the Olympics of the television I would never have done it. So
to come along and to see where the Olympic Park is, to see an actual Olympics, an event
or whatever event it is, that is the inspiration we need to pass on to our kids.
I just kept imagining what it's going to be like in the future with all of the lights
and the people. I had this future vision as I was going around today.
Well the Aquatics Centre is just remarkable. I've not seen anything like it before.
I've spoken to a number of people that have come back from the tours and they've been
amazed at the change that has happened over the years. Particularly those that are repeat
visitors.
It's like a different planet to be quite honest. It's so different, it was just mud last time
but now you've got real tangible progress.
I think probably if people had said just under three years out you'd have that extent of
development, I think most people would not realise that that would be the case. So I
think it's fantastic, there's obviously a long way to go to get it ready for 2011 and
the time scales are tight but by the looks of it it's all in good hands.
