China's smartphone market, currently the largest in the world, is expected to get even bigger
this year, with its 4G long-term evolution market expected to grow more than five times
in the coming months. U.S. market researcher Strategy Analytics
said the number of LTE smartphones in China will reach 135-million units this year, a
jump of 5-hundred-47-percent from last year. LTE smartphones are expected to represent
36 percent of China's mobile phone market in the coming year, a jump from 6 percent
when the nation launched its LTE service in December.
The explosive growth in the Chinese market has Korean smartphone makers gearing up to
expand their sales in China. Samsung Electronics will reportedly promote
its Galaxy S4 in China and LG is planning to market its GPro phablets there.
