Now, we're going to cover 2 rescuer CPR for the child patient for the healthcare provider.
We're still gonna make sure our scene is safe, our gloves are on,
and our CPR shield is available with the one way valve.
We assess the patient for responsiveness, and look to see if they are breathing normally,
or not breathing, or not breathing normally.
Once we've indicated they are not breathing normally or not breathing at all,
we call for 911 or activate the Emergency Medical Response system.
We then are gonna do a head-tilt-chin-lift in order to reveal the carotid neck artery.
I check for a pulse for no more than 10 seconds, I can not easily palpate a carotid pulse.
The patient's not moving, not breathing, no pulse.
Begin CPR.
30 Compressions to 2 Respirations with my mask.
I'm gonna do this until my second rescuer comes in, who's trained.
At which point they're gonna take over chest compressions.
I'm gonna move to the head, ideally they brought equipment.
Now, the best case scenario is they brought an AED, and a bag-valve mask, or a crash cart.
But in this case he brings back a BVM, that's better than nothing, in fact it's really cool because it's
room air with no C02. So we are going to be benefitting this patient.
The difference when we move to 2 rescuer CPR is that instead of giving 30 compressions to 2 breaths
We're now going to move this up to 15 compressions and 2 breaths.
Thereby, giving the patient more compressions, more respirations in 2 minutes.
So this is a way for us to give the patient more compressions and more respirations in two minutes
while not getting as tired because we have help.
So, I squeeze in the two breaths, he continues with 15 more compressions.
About 2-4 minutes later, he's probably going to get tired and say "I gotta switch."
At which point, I'm gonna give 2 more breaths: BOOM BOOM, I get good chest rise and fall,
He melts away to the back allowing me to move towards the side of the patient.
He gets in position, I have give the bag, and I begin the 15 compressions.
(1-2-3-4-5)
One third the depth of the chest, for the right depth of CPR compressions.
After 15 he delivers the 2
and we keep volleying this back an forth until an AED arrives, crash cart arrives, EMS arrives,
or more trained individuals come to help.
Scene is safe, gloves are on, CPR shield's available.
Child are you okay?
Can you hear me? No response, they don't appear to be breathing normally.
You in the plaid shirt! Please go call 911, activate EMS, or call a code and come back, I might need your help.
Bring any equipment with you that you can as well please.
Checking for a carotid pulse.
No more than 10 seconds...I do not easily find a pulse.
This patient is not breathing, I begin my 30 compressions.

SWITCH!
(13-14-15)
(1-2)
Less than 10 seconds to make the switch. Begin compressions.
(1-2-3-4-5-6)
Up to 15...2 more respirations, followed by 15.
We going to continue this until an AED arrives, crash cart arrives, or EMS takes over.
