Behind me is the 'Florida Historic Capitol Museum'.
This is the old capitol that was built in 1845.
When the new capitol was built in the 1970s, citizen action helped save this building from destruction
and it was restored to its 1902 appearance that you see today.
This is where I suggest you start your visit to Tallahassee.
Inside this capitol is completely restored.
There happens to be a Senate chamber, a House chamber and a Supreme Court chamber.
That your kids can actually sit down and pretend like they're legislators for the state of Florida.
You can have them cast a vote for your district.
There are also lots of permanent exhibits that explain how Florida
has gotten from where it was in 1845 to where it is today.
And finally, there are rotating exhibits and some new exhibits
so there is always something to learn here at the Florida Historic Capitol.
