Hello everybody and welcome to MediCinematics. Today I'll talk about epidermoid cysts. In
this image you see a example of an epidermoid cyst. You see swelling of the skin and in
the middle you see a dimple. This dimple is where the skin pore drains to the skin. The
Sebaceous Gland produces an oily like substance that keeps the skin and hair smooth. In case
of an epidermoid cyst, the skin pore draining the hair follicle and sebaceous gland is obstructed.
This causes Keratin to pile up in this little cavity, and this is what causes the swelling
of the skin. Primary locations for epidermoid cysts are the scalp, ears and neck. Thank
you for watching. These are the references I've used and this video is made for educational
purposes only, not medical advice. Always ask your physician for medical advice.
