I guess I’ve always had a passion, I’ve always wanted to write a book and I’ve thought
of a few different subjects I wanted to write about. But when I first became a financial
advisor I thought, “Look, if I could ask anyone for financial advice, who would I ask?”
And there was only one name on my list. And that was Warren Buffett, the CEO of Berkshire
Hathaway. And so ever since that day, anything I could find on Warren I’ve read.
There’s so much that has been written about Buffett and before you’ve read all that
and before you’ve actually boiled that down to an essence it would take the average person
15-20 years. What I’ve done is I’ve taken that time to write it and understand his philosophy
and to just bring you the diamonds, the jewels, the dew drops. Just the little bits of information
you need to know and the few books you need to read in order to actually understand his
philosophy in its entirety.
It’s a coffee table book. I want people to be able to understand Warren’s philosophy
in 15 minutes.
What I think people have to do, they have to trust themselves. But you can only have
that supreme self confidence in yourself if you understand the rules of the game. That’s
what my book’s all about. In half an hour you can figure out what the rules of the game
are.
It’s the search for excellence, it’s the search for understanding. Einstein said, “If
you can’t say it simply, you simply don’t understand it well enough”.
The best feature of this book is... simplicity! It’s so simple. It’s a book of white space
and photos, there’s very few words in it.
But one of the great truths in our universe is unless your thinking is really clear you
can’t say things simply, and this book is so simple you should be able to explain this
philosophy to your kids and your grandchildren.
