This will be the first time Ana Hau of Te Rarawa and Ngapuhi
has had her fashion designs modelled on the NZ Fashion Week catwalk.
A dream that has been many years in the making,
and today it is fulfilled.
Ana Hau has the opportunity to spread her wings.
She won a Miro Moda competition for Maori designers
to gain her spot on the Fashion Week runway.
My theme is Asian Antique Affair.
It's a fusion of Maori and Japanese styles.
Ana's been designing clothes for 10 years
with the dream of one day being part of NZ Fashion Week,
today her dream has been fulfilled.
It's an honour to be on the same stage
as well-known fashion designers as Liz Mitchell and Karen Walker.
It is a great honour for me.
This is a woman who knows what she wants.
The ultimate goal is to have our collection sold overseas.
Maybe we start here at home,
but eventually I want my collection to be seen by the world.
She has started down the pathway to bigger and better things.
Irena Smith, Te Karere.
