I originally made this tutorial for Hungarians, and I use Hungarian Photoshop. :/ Sorry about that!
Make a New document. File >> New
Name your file and select the following settings.
In the name it's useful if you add the tone description too. In this case we will make a 40L(L=line/inch) 30% tone.
Settings: International Papertype: B4 / Resolution: 600dpi / Color mode: Grayscale / Background: white.
Now we will set the 30% gray color. You can use other darkness if you want! :)
In the pop up window in HSB colormodell 's settings at the B(Brightness) option add 70% (100 - your gray's %= B)
In this case it's 30% (100-70=30). Well if the B is 0= black if it's 100=white. I hope you understand It's hard too explain it in English. :/
Choose the Paintbucket tool, and fill the whole background with this gray color.
The only thing we have to do now, is to convert our picture to a screentone.
Image >> Mode >> Bitmap
Settings: Output: 600 dpi (the same as the Input) Method: Halftone screen...
In this panel we can set the LPI (Frequency), angle and the shape. I will make a 40lpi, 45 degrees, round tone.
You can make anything you want here. :) However make sure you do not set a lpi bigger than 100lpi or it's better if not bigger than 85lpi. If you do that your screen pattern will look more like dithering.
Finished! You just have to save it! (In these big files it's better if you use PNG instead of JPG. The file size will be the smaller.)
Same setting except the name. 0_40 means will we make 0%-40% gradient tone.
Click on the ruler to set the ruler's settings. Use centimeter for units if you want to use cm for the gradiation's length.
If the rulers are not swicthed on, do it here: View>> Rulers or use the Ctrl+R shortcut.
Select the color (40%), the same way we did it previously.
Use guides to mark the begining and the ending of your gradients. I used 5, 10, 15, 5 cm lengths.
With the rectangle selection tool, aselect the area between the two guide.
Select the Gradient tool (If you can't see it, it's behind the Paintbucket tool.) Set the gradient you want to use in the gradient editor.( Use the background and foreground color gradient)
It's important that use linear gradient as the gradient type. Make your gradient while hold down the SHIFT button.
Now you made your first gradient, make the others too! :)
Now the gradients are finished the only thing we have to do is convert it to halftone.
Same process as before: Image >> Colormode>> Bitmap Settings: 600 dpi, Halftone screen.
Frequency: 30L, and for a change use line as shape and 0 for the angle. Let's see how it will turn out! ^^
Not bad, but I like the round shapes better! :D
The End Thanks for watching! :)
