the soldiers from
India battery for squadron 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment conducted a stinger
live-fire exercise at the National Training Center, January 31st.
What we did at the range is we went through a live-fire, the actual
procedures and stuff that you would take to engage actual hostile
uh, aircraft. So what we did was - it's a two-man team...
...uh, gunner, and team chief - I'm the team chief for my gunner.
We uh, do the whole inspections of the actual Stinger Missile,
load it up on the truck,
actually go to the firing pit, get up there, actually track,
go through the actual fire engagements and actually fire a live missile, and uh...
...show that actually works.
.The purpose of the exercise was to prepare soldiers on
how to engage hostile aircraft.
it also provided the opportunity for India battery to field their equipment
and make sure it is mission capable.
Well, we did the training for the soldiers so they can, uh... get to fire
a live Stinger missile which is what they all want to do.
You know - and it also gives them
confidence that they can go out there
and conduct their mission, which is to deny enemy air assets
key terrain or key assets.
I think the training went really well
i mean, uh... it all came together, uh...thanks to all the NCO's
that we had out there, working hard, uh... to keep it together and the
Master Gunner, and uh...all the PL's (Platoon Leaders) that just work together,
the soldiers listens, and they uh... accomplished their mission - the did a great job.
