My name is Mike Jones, and I'm a barista at Third Rail Coffee right by Washington Square
Park in New York City. I'm going to teach you some basic coffee-making skills.
So, what equipment is used to make coffee? You have your nice whole coffee bean, but
how do you get that into a cup so you can drink it? The basic things are a grinder,
hot water source, and then a brewing device. Now, this could either be an espresso machine,
which needs its own espresso grinder. Or, it could be any number of pour-over devices,
like a Kamax. The Malita is another pour over device. A french press. Also, a large batch
brewer. Most coffee shops you go into and you order, like, a large coffee to go they're
pulling it out of this big urn, or air pot it's also called. There's different companies
that make these. A common one is Faco. It's what we have at Third Rail. And it's basically
doing what I demonstrate in another video about pour over coffee, but on a very large
scale. This is definitely a basic, a basic piece of equipment that you'll find at any
coffee shop. That's basically it. You just need your hot water, brewing device, and you
need a grinder. And, of course, coffee.
