Hello everyone,
tonight I'm talking to you
about something called the way of the monkey.
And I'm gonna do this through something called
Zen.
Now, I'm not gonna stand here and expect to explain zen to you.
So I'll explain the way of the monkey,
and through this, maybe I can extrapolate what Zen is all about.
There's two ways
in the traditional Asiatic religion.
That of the monkey and that of the kitten.
The kitten, when it loses its mother, it screams "mew mew mew"
for help until its mother comes by.
Whereas for the monkey, when the monkey falls out of a tree,
the monkey could run to any mother monkey it wants to,
and it will get pushed away,
or even beaten.
It only can run to one specific person,
so it has to rely on its own inner strength.
Shakti, sometimes we call it in the Hindi.
And it has other names as well.
This
ties into Zen.
Zen is very similar to this.
The closest, in America, we have
to Zen, is something called the "Self-Hating Jew".
It's a comedy term.
Usually a Jewish comedian who makes fun of themselves.
That is the closest, I would say,
and the best that a Western mind can get, to understanding
what Zen is.
Alright?
So, we'll take a look at that whole monkey example, right?
The whole idea behind zen, is,
now this is very important,
is that the fruit of the labor,
is the labor itself.
Alright?
So, reaching a goal and that type of thing,
in traditional Zen stories,
the ending may be a little disappointing.
Sometimes outright disappointing to a Westerner.
I'm gonna give you a great example.

It's a movie I just discovered, as serendipity would have it, tonight.
I thought it was great.
I was looking for another movie called "Cache," which is a French movie -
I highly recommend that one as well.
But I found this one, actually, instead,
which goes perfectly with what Zen is.
I don't want to give anything of the movie away,
except it was written in, I believe, 1997,
and it is extremely funny.
It's a Japanese movie - I don't know who stars in it.
I know virtually nothing about this,
except I watched it, got hooked into it,
other people were watching it as well, and liked it as well.
And it's called "My Secret Cache."

Take a look.

or private message me, make a video response.
Have a great night.
