If you watch the dogs whenever they go to a group of people a lot of times the dog will
just go right to someone. They're able to detect when someone needs
to see them and they'll just gravitate right toward them. It's an amazing thing to see.
Other people, they don't see the dogs, you just say "Would you like to pet a dog?" or
"Hi there, we're a therapy dog team. Would you like to see our dog?" or "Would you like
to say 'hi'." And right away there's a smile "Yea, sure, I'll pet that dog!" The local
obedience and they go through our therapy dog training and then they have to be evaluated
and pass evaluation. For the Disaster Stress Relief Dogs, it's intensive training for the
dogs to go through a very intensive test. One of the things we're trying to evaluate
is how the handlers and the dogs can adapt to the situation under the most adverse and
