A once vacant lot in an older neighborhood in Sacramento now is replaced with a new single family house, and a family that now calls this place home.
A few years ago, builders of this home used the City’s Pre-Approved Infill House Plan Program to assist with building a high quality single family home on a vacant lot in an older Sacramento neighborhood.
Not only did the program save time during the building permit process, but it also saved money through the purchase of reduced cost pre-approved house plans.
[Ida Clair of Cynthia Easton Architects]; A pre-approved infill house plan for a home like this one typically costs about $14,000 to design yet it is available through this program for a little over $2,000.
These plans are designed to suit the character of older neighborhoods, with homes that are up to three bedrooms ranging from approximately 1300 to 1700 square feet.
Homes can also be built green with new energy efficiency options through SMUD’s Solar Smart and Home of the Future programs.
Accessible versions of the plans are available for homeowners with disabilities.
Improving neighborhoods by filling vacant lots in Sacramento with well-designed, energy efficient homes is possible because of a partnership with SMUD and the Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency.
In addition, the program will be available in the County of Sacramento in the spring of 2011.
