Families rendered homeless in Mauritania floods. Floods set off by torrential rains on Thursday,
July 13 swept through parts of Guidimakha province, displacing approximately 147 families
as homes were destroyed. The floods affected the villages of Oulou M'Boni, Dar Selam, Maghama
and M’Bout where 26 families lost their homes and have been relocated temporarily
to schools by government departments. The region’s governor and several officials
visited the afflicted to assess the situation and ensure food security. Meanwhile, the administration
has recommended that residents leave flooded areas pending the organization of longer-term
repairs.
Our appreciation, all Mauritanian officials and personnel, for your concerned initiatives.
Wishing the storm-stricken people a smooth return to the stability of their day-to-day
lives and that such calamities are curbed through our kinder regard for the ecosphere
