In 2012 Morrisons founded the Fair Exchange program to raise money for the local Fairhills
community, one of the communities supplying wine to Morrisons.
Since 2012 we have raised over fifty thousand pounds through sales of our Fair Exchange
wines, and in May 2013 Laura and Andrew from the Morrisons wine team went to South Africa
to officially open the Fair Exchange clinic and mobile healthcare unit.
The clinics and a nurse will serve the community providing adult health checks, critical illness
medication and care, support for alcohol abuse and a sickbay for children at the local school.
They will provide convenient access to healthcare for farm workers, which was previously only
available by walking a long distance and queuing, with no guaranty of being seen.
The Fair Exchange clinics are our first project with Fairhills and we are currently working
with the community to decide on the next project. Morrisons is committed to helping improve
the lives of all its suppliers.
