My name is Barbara Esses and I do events for a living. I'm Ruthie Hecht; I'm an event planner
and I work with and for my mother. We're going to teach you the do's and don'ts for the perfect
wedding. Barbara Esses: When a bride and groom decide to get married in their family or even
not in their family, sanctuary, be it a church, or a synagogue usually those buildings are
quiet beautiful and the best way to decorate them is with lighting and no so much flowers.
Not because flowers are not beautiful, flowers are very costly but more flowers does not
necessarily make the space look better. It is usually wonderful to highlight the architecture
of the space and to mark the spot where the ceremony is actually happening and to mark
the isle at the beginning of it so that when the bride enters, there is something very
beautiful to frame her for the pictures and then there is something visual for the bride and groom and the efficient
when they are standing and actually doing the ceremony, but the most important thing
I think are either candle if it is nighttime or some kind of lighting to highlight the
space so the people really get to feel comfort in the space and the beauty of the space because
most houses of worship are quite beautiful. So decoration should be minimal but it should
just bring the space to life.
