Can Teachers remain disconnected- with Alec Couros
Alec Couros Can teachers remain disconnected?
So the idea of teachers not being networked, and I think it's... it's something that's
going to become more difficult to remain relevant to not be networked.
Ah, because search for instance again, being able to do our jobs, to get the best information
is becoming more reliant on the idea of being able to tap into the expertise of networks.
So for a teacher to be able to... to adequately resource and research particular topics that
they have to teach, they'll need to know more knowledge ah, create more knowledge for themselves,
and that will mean ah, relying on networks.
But also in many cases we have to understand, we won't have all the knowledge. We have incomplete
knowledge, Th..... the days thinking that we have all the knowledge around a subject
are gone; we have to sort of let go of that......... ah... ah belief.
And so the idea that as a teacher we have to also help our students become networked,
that means that we have to be networked first, we have to be able to help develop the idea
of a networked student, or a networked individual.
And so that means understanding how networks work for our own learning, and that means
if we do not become network s educators, we're going to become increasingly irrelevant for
our students.
