A sky full of stars
Blue ocean as far as you see
An earth where flowers grow
Can you wish for more?
There was a cry from the depth of people that day, that would enter norwegian history
A cry for unity when the nation is being tested
Tonight the streets are filled with love
We have chosen to respond to cruelty with closeness
We have chosen to face hatred with unity
We have chosen to show what we stand for
We have experienced a national tragedy, it has hit us hard
Hatred is a nearby feeling
The want for revenge is a natural reaction
But we, Norway, shall not hate, and we shall not revenge
It brought associations to the independence day of 1945, to see two hundred thousand in the streets of Oslo
Where the heroes, today as then, were celebrated by the people
Evil can kill a person
but never defeat an entire people
Our fathers and mothers promised no more 9th of april
We promise no more 22nd of july
Perhaps you ask in fear, uncovered, open,
'what shall I fight with, what is my weapon?'
It was one of those typical norwegian summerdays, where Utøya was bathed in rain
Afterwards will still nothing be as before
Frida will allways remember the 1st of May celebration in Egersund earlier this year
Martha Svendsen that was shot, and helped by her to the schoolhouse, survived
But Jamil Rafal Yasin was killed
The girlfriend that she got know so well, through the small branch
She wanted to go to school, with norwegian youth, after attending norwegian courses
Great at speaking norwegian. She wanted an education,
she wanted to perhaps be a dentist, move back and study
She had a future, she was progressive
She was fantastic, a beautiful woman
that died way too young, too horrible way to die
I knew Sondre best, he had been there longest
- How would you describe him? - Sondre?
He was a very good,
and very happy, and caring person
Very caring, that was sort of his way
He helped out if there was something
And I remember him telling me many times, on Utøya as well this year,
'You're such a good singer Rebekka'
Thank you
Gro's visit to the tent camp will also be remembered
Where Bano Rashid got to meet her great rolemodel a few hours before she was killed
Is there only girls? No
This is our girl youth candidates
And Tore Eikeland, one of our most talented youth politicians, said the prime minister
On Utøya he showed why, passionate about what he believed in
The Right (Conservative Party) has never been a freedom party
The Right have on the contrary slowed down the fight for freedom
and the fight for equality, for all of us
Gro lead the way, but that doesn't give the rest of us any excuse to slack
We must forward to the front, we must fight The Right
and for the freedom they may never take away from us
Thank you
So the speech remain as a testimony for all those who survived
I have a wonderful life, I just have to enjoy it
I have a future in front of me, I'm going to grow old
I will grow up, and I'm so happy that I have the opportunity to now
because I almost lost it
I feel somewhat like a different person
Not quite, but a little, I feel alot more brave
than what I used to be
If I can do this, then I can do anything
Gro had an important message this day
to the youth, from a time when Norway was 'Encircled by enemies'
And so that was also to be the hymn of the nation
from heart to heart
Encircled by enemies, enter your time
Under a bloody storm, devote yourself to battle
Perhaps you ask in fear, uncovered, open,
'what shall I fight with, what is my weapon'
Here is your shield from violence, here is your sword,
the faith in our life, the worth of mankind
For all our future's sake, seek it and tend it,
die if you must - but: increase it and strengthen it!
Silently goes the grenades' gliding band
Stop their drift towards death, stop them with spirit!
War is contempt of life. Peace is creating
Throw your forces in, death shall be beaten
Then the weapons drop powerless down
If we create human worth we create peace
Those who with their right arm carries a burden,
precious and inalienable, can not ***
This is our promise from brother to brother:
We will be good towards mankinds earth
We will preserve the beauty, the warmth
as if we carried a child tenderly in our arms
