Hey everyone, and welcome to vidyadev tutorials. This chapters' purpose is to introduce you
all to the channel.
I'd like to start off by saying, thanks!
I was not expecting to have more than 2 or 3 subscribers.
But a good lot of you actually showed up; it's great
to know that I have a large enough audience, because,
even if the tutorials are terrible right now, I will have enough
comments and suggestions to make better tutorials faster.
Once again, thanks for showing up.
Now, let's get down to business.
This channel's purpose is to teach everyone who wants to make
games how to program. I'll be starting from the very, very basics,
but will always be focused on making games.
To do this, we will be using a few things: -Java SE Development Kit, which is the platform
we'll be building on; -libGDX, a game engine;
-Eclipse, an IDE (or, Integrated Development Environment)
Why Java? Because it's fast, powerful, and it's portable.
It's also very forgiving language, which makes it easier to learn.
Why libGDX? It deploys to Windows, Linux, Mac, iOS, and
HTML5. No, it's not like Game Maker or RPG Maker.
It's on a completely different level. You will be doing the actual
game programming here, don't be fooled.
Why Eclipse? Eclipse will be your worktable. It's where
you write and test your code. It has a lot of built-in functions that will
make your programming much more comfortable.
At this moment I just want you to be aware of the tools we'll be using.
Don't worry too much about setting these up; we'll be doing that
in the next video. I'll put the download links in the video
description, for those interested in downloading these ahead of time.
That's it for now. I hope you've liked the format of the video,
and if you didn't: leave a comment, or send me an e-mail.
Thanks for watching!
