I was hoping to take over the role during the season
and I always thought I should be the one.
I was extremely frustrated.
The first half of the season were the worst days for the team.
It was like a hell.
First of all, I want them to take pride that
“I am the ace”
“I am the center pillar” and “I will lead the team.”
I hope every one of them will remember this.
For me, my teammates are my family.
And the family protect and help each other.
We must fight together as a team to score
and defend a point no matter what.
I believe it is the teamwork and solidarity
that decide the outcome of the race in the end.
I dreamed of taking the mound of the opening game as a starter.
So, I hoped the audience would remember my pitching.
Even if we lose, we should not give into the result.
It is important that we continue to “struggle.”
I think one cannot be a strong player
if he accepts the defeat without resistance.
No matter what the circumstances are,
it is important to be fully prepared.
In our team, there are many players better than me.
Nevertheless, I am allowed to play at the first team,
probably because of (the result of) my training.
So, if I stop my training,
I know I can’t continue my career as a pitcher.
I always do the training with that sense of crisis.
I go all in to work harder than anybody else.
To “go all in”
is never to run away from yourself – YOMIURI GIANTS
We’ll do whatever we can as a team
to win this year’s championship.
GIANTS go all in, for the championship
