The Library provides a whole range of services to our students. We provide a physical
space for students to come in work here, use the computers, borrow books and so on.
Increasingly resources are available online or electronically,
so we provide access to students off campus as well or students who want
to work from halls or from their home to access e-books, electronic journals,
websites and we make all of that possible through the University of Derby online or UDo which is
our virtual learning environment.
There is a range of different software and assistive technology that's available to
students some of which is course specific and some is more general and available for all
students.
We have subject librarians who are very knowledgeable about their specific
subject areas and they will liaise with the
different curriculum areas and will be able to find very specific and direct support
to the students on those topics.
We also provide a study adviser scheme and this is where we match new students up
with an experienced student to be able to bring their own experiences and support the
newer students through a whole range of study skills whether it's around essay writing
or referencing and citation work.
If you are just joining the University then we at the Library are just really
looking forward to welcoming you here,
saying hello to you and being able to show you our wonderful resources and
facilities. And if you have any questions then please just contact a member of staff here.
