A few years ago I already thought about working with an orchestra.
So this year I went to Q-dance and suggested we should work together.
They're always open to new things, orchestras and live acts.
So I pitched the idea of doing the Anthem live with an orchestra.
Today, we're recording the orchestra in this studio in Volendam.
This is intended for the anthem and for the album.
In the end they'll all play live.
It's great that you'll be there the 27th. There are nine people here now?
I wrote a 3-minute piece for the live show.
The anthem that's going to be released on CD...
is basically the abbreviated version of the entire piece.
We recorded a few parts that were pretty heavy.
I think people will go crazy. It's awesome for us as well.
I really hope we can see the audience so we can feel the interaction...
and they'll really enjoy watching us.
If you're in the audience and you see the orchestra, the show and the lasers...
and you have this intimate feeling with the orchestra...
It's the same when I'm on a set and I feel a connection with 30,000 people...
that's indescribable.
I have seen some of the members of the orchestra and it will be great.
People will really feel and experience this unique event.
It's nice to see how it goes.
The combination with such a different style of music can be really fantastic.
The music is Qlimax. You saw what the theme was for this year.
I tried to incorporate that in the music, and without giving away too much...
the music tells a story.
The music is the climax, which was the point of using classical music.
I didn't just want to do another Qlimax, but tell a story with the music.
What's very important with the anthem...
is the dynamics you have with a real orchestra.
The piece before this is grand and people can let go. I'll let you listen to it.
Then the music is reduced and becomes very small.
Imagine being in the GelreDome.
It's hard to hear and you need to consider so many things. 35
